Another year, another Miami Swim Week is over.   Or should we say, ovah?  This time, the shows took place at over-the-top fabulous venues like Fontainebleau Miami Beach and the SLS South Beach Miami. The week was packed with trade shows, parties, and runway shows galore!

While all the shows were phenomenal, highlights included Sisterly Swimwear and their collection incorporating swimwear with athletic leisure wear and Carla Aestas with ethereal swim pieces made for true divas.   Tiare Hawaii featured brilliant floral fabrics and Liliana Montoya showcased a beautiful palette of whites, coral, and beiges.

In menswear, GALI Swimwear stood out high above the pack.  Each design in its Lukarrara line was a bold statement piece, featuring bright colors in complex, interwoven patterns.  The collection also made history as the first Indigenous brand to be showcased at Miami Swim Week.  Founder David Leslie is a Kamilaroi man who lives on Gadigal and Bidjigal Country in Australia and GALI Swimwear is not only inspired by Mr. Leslie’s indigenous culture, but also the collective talent of First Nations designers.

The diversity of the designers showcased at Miami Swim Week is just one way the week continues to improve each year. Collections keep evolving and we noticed a great assortment of fun new fabrics like metallic spandex and the introduction of exciting pastel, sorbet-like colors.   Ruffles, too, made a big impact at this year's shows!   Whether strategically draped from hip to shoulder or simply creating a wing-like shape at the collarbone, it's clear this frilly trend will be all over beaches and pools this season.  And for fans of Barbiethere's no end in sight for the "think pink" mentality.   The doll-themed sensation was all over the runways at Miami Swim Week.

It was a fantastic week, however, there are still elements Miami Swim Week producers can improve on for next year.  The biggest being time.  While it is typical for fashion shows to run a few minutes behind, too many shows at Miami Swim Week ran 20 minutes behind. We noticed more than a few important industry people leaving the presentations in frustration.

Those that remained were rewarded with exciting new lewks that many women - and men! - will be sporting on their vacations this year.
